In no specific order, here’s a short list of rising stars in the Virgin Islands. Artists in the Virgin Islands are evolving their visuals, sound and creating new sub-genres in the process. Breakout stars like R. City have paved the way for local artists trying to find their voice in the music. Take a look:

1. BugZbugs “BZB”

Horace ‘BugZbugs‘ Matthew Jr. has proved himself as a multitalented recording artist over the past few years with hits like Treadmill, Handcuffa, Forklift, Rolex, Down in the Saddle, and many more. Born in MonBijou, on the island of St. Croix with his high octane performances and unique flow, his lyricism ensures that he is one of the up and coming VI names to keep an eye as 2019 unfolds. #BelieveinBZB

2. Monea

British Virgin Islands born singer and rapper Monea is truly a 2018 breakout star. Monea has hits such as Lucky One, INNA DI, and Big Jam, Monea has paved the way for her music career and is in a great position to rock both the Caribbean and U.S. markets in 2019.  Already having a long history of collaborations and certified bangers there is no doubt that her career is truly on the come up.

3. Big Band VI

If you were lucky enough to spend some time enjoying the Virgin Islands nightlife last you, you were probably in a Big Band jam at some point. With a rising online following and what seems like shows every night, if you are looking for a good jam in 2019 going to Big Band Jam is your best bet.

4. Adam O

If everything goes according to plan, Adam O will be one of 2019’s biggest breakout stars. The USVI singer, and songwriter had a stellar year in 2018 with soca hits like Wine and Dip and energized stage presence. We predict Adam O will be one of many new faces in soca in the upcoming year.

5. Marvelus

Music Engineer, and songwriter Iaryn Swanks Williams is one of the biggest producers in the Virgin Islands. Marvelus made his mark 2018 with one of the biggest soca hits of 2018 “Big Jam” under his belt, we expect more hits from him as 2019 unfolds.

Extra Artist: Timo of R. City

Timo is one part of the infamous R. City, but you already knew that. He is far from an up and coming artist with over a decade of intentional hits under his belt. And in 2018 there was no shortage of bangers from the artist. With Tings You See in St.Thomas dropping in 2018 and a new album on the way this will be another big year for the USVI Ambassador.
