Loved this article and the video. It explains so much geologically about the region. The subduction zone seems similar to the Cascadia Subduction zone in NW US mainland, which also gives birth to the ring of volcanoes from Mt Shasta to Mt Rainier.

It is very similar to the Cascadia Subduction zone, except it doesn't appear to have as much energy built up to cause dangerous mega thrust earthquakes.

Lots of small quakes in the region and not a lot of friction caused by the Caribbean Plate and the North American Plate. Gonna see if I can find any new research on the volcanism in the region.
